Merger Update

Carisbrook Enrolment forms

There are additional forms available from our school’s office. Mr Sincock is currently putting together classes for 2012 so your enrolment forms are urgently needed. My suggestion is that even if you are still unsure of your intentions for 2012, complete a form for Carisbrook School now and that way you will ensure your son or daughter has a place.

Did you read in Mr Sincock’s newsletter this week that:

  • Carisbrook School opens for children on Wednesday 1st February
  • That already camp venues have tentatively been booked in for 2012.
  • That each student will be getting a new Carisbrook School top
  • That all Yr 7 & 8 learners will have a PC computer, laptop, or an ipad or similar while they are at school !!
  • That Carisbrook is going to be a Duffy school
  • That there will be both a Before and an After School Care programme

Sounds pretty cool to me !!

It’s also excellent to hear that our students will be remaining on site over terms 1 and 2. It means that while building development goes on, our teaching and learning programmes will be unaffected.

3C Schools Merger

Some really good progress is being made establishing the new school and we’re well on track for a really positive start to 2012.  Enrolment forms should be ready next week.

School Name

At our Board meeting on the 15 November we considered the feedback we had received regarding the proposed name of Otepoti South School.

The feedback was overwhelmingly in favour of Carisbrook School.  Our previous concern for this name was its historic link to James Macandrew and how it was possibly better suited to the Forbury and Macandrew School merger.

We are very happy to recommend to the Ministry of Education that Carisbrook be accepted as our school name.

We would love to hear votes of thanks or further concerns.  Please let Wendy or Isabell know by Friday 18 November.

We are yet to decide on an identity that represents our ‘campus on the hill’.

Principal

We hope you or your children have had a chance to meet with our principal

Ben Sincock.  He has enjoyed being part of assemblies and class programmes.  Keep an ear open for future chances to meet Ben.

Buildings

At this point in time we are awaiting final costing’s regarding the proposed building redevelopments.  We hope to be able to provide you with a copy of the building plans as soon we have received the final costings.

We acknowledge that for many this is a very unsettling time, especially for those families who are anxious to receive further information regarding which site their child will be situated at next year.  We are working hard to have this information available as soon as is possible.

Thank you for your continued patience and feedback.
